Martin de Mello has now offered to judge our poetry after which the best will be added to the stories judged by Ursula Hurley, for prizes to be awarded for the best writing skills.

2011: Commonword has three places left on the Free Read scheme for poets based in the North of England. The scheme is offered through The Literary Consultancy (TLC) one of the UK’s leading manuscript assessment services.

The free read scheme provides new and unpublished writers an opportunity to get detached detailed critical assessment of their work by established industry insiders.

If you would like to be considered for the scheme please email martin@cultureworld.org.uk for guidelines on submission and details of the selection process.

Poets can submit up to 300 lines of poetry. The 3 best will be put through the scheme
