Please read the rules carefully before you enter.

We do not want you to spend time writing a possibly potential winner for it to be unacceptable to the Judges because it is not double-spaced.

It is essential  the judges have space to write comments on pre-reads before they choose the winners.

Onward SHORT STORY /POETRY COMPETITION 2012             commencing 1st January 2012

 

Rules of Entry: -

 

1. Entries must not exceed 1200 words or 40 lines for poetry.

2. The competition is open to anyone aged 16 years and above (on the closing date).

3. Prizes are 1st = £50, 2nd = £30 and 3rd = £20. Further prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the judge.

4. An entry fee of £3 is required for each entry, £5 for 2 entries £9 for 4.

5. This entry form can be photocopied if required.

6. The Closing Date is 1st April 2012.

7. No identifying marks should be on the entry.  

8. Each story must have a cover sheet containing title, word count and author’s name and address.

9. All entries must be on A4 paper and must be double-spaced, (12pt, Times New Roman preferred) typed, and on one side of paper only.

10. No entries should currently be submitted for any other competition or have been published previously.

11. Entries failing to meet all of these rules will be disqualified. Fees from disqualified entries will not be returned.

12. Copyright remains with the author, although winning entries will be published in the Anthology and may also be published on the website.

13. The judge’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

14. Winners will be notified as soon as the results are known.

15. No entries will be returned unless a stamped self addressed envelope is enclosed.

16. No entries will be acknowledged unless a stamped addressed post card is enclosed.

17. Entries with insufficient postage will NOT be collected from the Post Office, but returned to sender.

     18. Entry indicates an acceptance of these rules.
